Iran, Armenia Discuss Ties and Regional Peace
WANA (May 17) – Armenian National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, in Tehran for the “Tehran Dialogue Forum,” met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments.
Grigoryan described Armenia-Iran ties as positive and reaffirmed Yerevan’s commitment to deepening all-round cooperation, especially in economic and trade sectors, leveraging opportunities presented by the pending Iran-EAEU agreement.
He also thanked Iran for the forum invitation and expressed hope that discussions at the Tehran Dialogue would foster regional and global peace and understanding.
Araghchi, recalling his visit to Yerevan earlier this year, praised the progress in bilateral ties and reiterated Iran’s interest in expanding friendly relations with Armenia based on mutual interests.
He also briefed Grigoryan on Iran’s principled stance on peaceful nuclear energy and the latest developments in Iran-U.S. negotiations. The Armenian official expressed hope for a positive outcome.
Grigoryan provided an update on Armenia’s peace talks with Azerbaijan and appreciated Iran’s consistent support for Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Araghchi stressed Iran’s balanced ties with both Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling for the swift signing of a peace agreement between the two nations to ensure regional stability and development.
“The Republic of #Armenia will not be involved in any action against the Islamic Republic of #Iran.
The stability, development, and security of Iran are extremely important to us. There is not even a need to explain this, as it is completely obvious.”
